How to get to the sheepfarm
other then by car?

From the Zürich-Airport a direct train to Lucerne leaves every hour at 33 minutes. Since you will probably have a lot of luggage it is the most convenient if you call a
taxi free of charge at 0800 80 80 10. We have a special price with this company - SFr. 40.-- up to 4 people incl. luggage. If you have no luggage then you may take the train to Merlischachen and then
walk 10-15 minutes to the farm (depending your speed) Other companies often have problems to find us and this can become complicated and more expensive. “Our company” usually works with
the same 2-3 drivers who know us.

to find out about the train connections, or how to get to us by train from anywhere please visit www.sbb.ch. Our train station is 6402 Merlischachen. Arrival &
Departure is more convenient to stop in Lucerne and take the Taxi and do the grocery shopping in the Train Station Lucerne. Once living in the apartment - walking to the train station and back is no
problem

Train Tickets
|
single tickets, bought in Switzerland can become pretty expensive if full price has to be paid. Please look into special Tourist offers, which can be only bought from outside Switzerland. There are many
different offers.

|
If you want to explore the region that you are staying - the Tellpass might be an excellent way of traveling. www.tellpass.ch/.

Grocery-Shopping after arrival
|
We have a very convenient little store 1000 meters from the farm, down in the village and it’s also open sunday morning. Please be aware that if you arrive saturday, that the stores will close at 4
pm and this little store down the road at 5 pm.

Rental car
|
For 4 adults, a rental car might be a “cheaper” way of traveling as single trips by train - if the tickets were not bought in advance. Check the rental prices. Europecar is also very
conveniently located near the train station of Lucerne.

GPS
|
If you decide to rent a car, you might eventually to check into making sure that there is a GPS in it or a possibility to rent a detached one. So you always find your way around - or back home in the
night....

|
Weather has changed in the last years and it is really hard to tell. So be prepared for all kind of weather.

Excursions & Weather
|
If you plan to make an excursion on a mountain, then it is very pitty, if you are up there and you don’t see anything. If you have those kind of plans, tell us as soon as you know, when you plan to
go and we’ll watch the weather and tell you when it will be the best time to catch it. Be aware that specially in the summer months, it is best to leave early in the morning because if you only go
in the afternoon, a lot of times it will be hazy. So do not pre-book
any excursions with a fixed date. For people who want to explore the regional mountains of Central Switzerland, (Pilatus, Rigi, Titlis, etc.) the Tellpass is an excellent way of avoiding expensive mountain trips.
There are way too many tourist attractions nearby and we do not know of all the different interests. So please prepare your trip beforehand - or visit the tourist office in Merlischachen or Lucerne.
Once you are here, we can provide you with some tipps, but we do not know everything by heart like a tourist office.

Swimming Pool, Outdoor life
|
As the lake is only 1 km away, and easy and free of charge to acess, swimming in the lake is more fun. We therefore have discontinued to install the pool. There is a BBQ grill available (SFr. 10.-- per
use for the gas) and chairs to relax with a phantastic view.

Children
|
our property does not provide a children’s playground and it is not ideal for parents who want to let their children go around the farm un-accompained. We do have gates to go through which are not
suitable for very small children. This is a security for your children.

|
Privacy
|
each unit has its own private outdoor place where you can relax for yourself. We respect your privacy. So if you need something or want some help, please get in touch with us. Please respect OUR business
hours 8-12.00 am, 2-8.00 pm.

Height of Apartment
|
The hight of the cottage is not a problem. As the farm house was built in 1897, the rooms are pretty low. The apartment is not an ideal place for people taller then
6’2’’. Going through the doors you need to watch your head.

Mobile Phone / Telephone
|
Telephone is available in the Apartment, no Telephone in the Summer Cottage. We can rent a mobile phone for SFr. 3.--/day, plus phone costs. This has
the advantage to be able to take the phone with you
wherever you go. Please advise us ahead of time.
|
|
Cancellation insurance
|
on www.elvia.ch (also in english) you can find an insurance for your needs in case of cancellation. It has to be issued latest 7 days after a signed contract for the apartment.

Extras:
|
The Extras, like Tourist Tax, Fr. 1.--/day per Adult, Fr. -.50/day child, garbage bags as used (SFr. 5.--/small, SFr. 15.--/big). We are sorry, the system in Switzerland is asking that the people have to
pay according to their use. We do still have to pay a yearly ground fee, which we do not charge.
An official check out is requested.

WLAN, Computer
|
We can provide you with a key for WLAN for SFr. 20.--/week. In case the WLAN is not working with YOUR computer, you might take a connecting cable with you and use the analog phone line, which is still
much cheaper then internet cafe’s. There are Internet Cafe’s down the road and also different in Küssnacht am Rigi.

Cleaning
|
It is requested that the apartment is left basically cleaned - cleaning instructions will be at the apartment at arrival. (dishes washed, kitchen cleaned, floors vacumend, etc.) Our end cleaning includes
the change/washing/ironing of the linens, the bath and kitchen towels and the last check up and removal of the last garbage bag. We do as well clean and desinfect the bath/shower/toilet. If the apartment
is left without cleaning, then we will charge the extra time to your credit card with SFr. 50.--/hour.

Self contained apartments
|
very often self contained apartments do NOT provide the linens, towels, etc.
WE DO provide them. It is very common in Switzerland, that an end cleaning fee has to be paid.

Our help
|
We try to accomodate your needs, but we are human beeings with positive and negative sides and we are far from beeing perfect. We can do a lot if we know, but we can’t do everything.

Dogs, cats and other animals
|
We do have a little temporary home for animals while their owners are on holiday.
We do have a different amount of friendly dogs, cats, rabbits, ginny pigs or birds on our property which varies the
season. From not many at all outside the school holidays to more during the school holidays and even more during 4-6 weeks in July and August. The cats are in a different building and can be visited with
the lady who is caring for them. The dogs are all tested and kept behind fences or inside in the night. In summer time, they are beiing brought to the fields to run at 7.00 am and they bark of
excitement for approx. 2-3 minutes when they leave the house running to the field and eventually when they come back. Afterwards they sleep. We have short opening hours and between 10.00 am - 4.00 pm we
are closed - so it is mostly very quiet. There is COMPLETE SILENCE between 8.30 pm to 7.00 am. So if you are more interested in
exploring the sights, you will never have a problem with this. If you want to come and stay mainly on the farm and have a relaxing holiday...we might not be the ideal place for you.

Dog free
|
the entrance to the apartment and the cottage are dog free. So you do not need to get in touch with them or walk through them, if you do not wish.

Farm
|
please keep in mind that on a “real working farm” - the farm life starts in summer at latest 5.00 am and goes into late at night. So 7.00 am is easy and 8.30/9.00 pm are more then convenient
times for a farm. In hotels they mostly have restaurants or bars running until way after midnight.

Stars
|
we are not a fancy 5 star hotel, we provide a rustique, cosy way of holidays for a reasonable price in one of the most expensive and prestigous regions of Switzerland. So please do not compare appels
with apricots.
